Tissto T-Race Chronograph Bracelet Watch Review
The long-standing Tissto T-Race Chronograph watch family has produced a new generation of models; this reference T141. 417.11.051.01 is the black-dialized T-Race Chronograph quartz in steel on the matching band. The timepiece collection’s signature design element. The disc brake rotor-inspired bezel, is typically found on the T-Race. A sports watch with a motorsports theme. This combines with a strong personality and large case sizes. For a long time, the Tissto T-Race has been a solid seller for individuals who appreciate an automotive and racing lifestyle; in very real terms, it is a statement item.
The most recent generation Tissto T-Race Chronograph has a clearly “integrated bracelet” appearance, so it is not evident where the bracelet starts and finishes. This is designed to produce a jewelry-style (vs. instrument) appearance. For a watch of this kind, it is quite acceptable. Tissot chooses a more old-world sense of quality and a weight and size-wise big watch. Weighing a whopping 199 grams, the T-Race is robustly crafted. Feels both strong and hefty. That is despite the architectural black resin flanks of the watch, which surely serve to somewhat control the weight.
With the same 45mm long lug-to-lug distance, this Tissot T-Race Chronograph watch in steel is 45mm broad. An otherwise spherical timepiece should not have such square measurements. Given the very stubby 45mm long lug-to-lug distance, this actually makes the 45mm-wide size fit on considerably smaller wrists. The case is also 11.8 mm thick and water-resistant to 100 metres. It is nice to have in a Swiss-made watch at this reasonable price.
Tissot chose somewhat unusual-shaped chronograph pushers to give the watch a bit of a sportier-looking appeal. Although some may object to the asymmetry, this design decision helps the watch to have The thick-linked bracelet articulates well over the wrist, and you may micro-adjust the deployant buckle to ensure the case won’t tire you out. More importantly, given the weight and size, the casing is really comfy. The thick-linked bracelet articulates pleasantly over the wrist and the deployant. Fastening may be micro-adjusted to avoid draining you. The case is also low and flat enough on the wrist to stop a too-top-heavy feeling.
Apart from the shown black, the two hues of this watch dial—blue and silver—have great legibility, as shown here. Tissot created a dial with great restraint and utility, as well as fairly large but attractive hands. Tissot knows the visually wild enough brake rotor-type bezel allows the dial to be otherwise rather plain. The slanted flange ring features markings where the date, tachymeter scale, and chronograph complications are located. Not too terrible, either, is the luminant application. If only more “themed” watches were also this amazing at being just timepieces.
Although Tissot creates automatic chronograph versions of the T-Race Chronograph, the volume of his Swiss-made quartz versions is more important. Given who Tissot is selling to and what price range fits a product family like the T-Race, that makes sense. One tenth of a second of an ETA-grade G10.212 quartz chronograph movement resides inside the watch. This movement boasts a 30-minute chronograph with split-second capability and tells the time using a date.
The chronograph’s precision once again is one-tenth of a second. Fascinatingly, other timepieces with a football (soccer) match time employ a similar form of this movement. I believe Tissot did a quite good job with the chronograph part of this T-Race watch, despite some of the smaller hands on the dial being in polished silver and blending in a bit with the black face (thus impacting contrast and hence legibility). The watch’s rear is a little boring, though, and there’s a lost chance for more individuality or artwork. Maybe leave it blank as an engravable space?
The Tissot T-Race is as good a daily-wear sports lifestyle watch available now as it has ever been for those who enjoy motorbikes and racing. Tissot also creates a strong watch for the money and keeps a somewhat competitive pricing point. The reference T141.414.11.051 Tissot T-Race Chronograph costs $575 USD. When reviewer would personally wear it: Wanting a decent watch but also want to blend in with the biker scene.
Friend we would suggest it to initially: Motorcycle racing or motorbike fan looking for a strong yet understated, elegant sports watch for daily use.
Watch’s best quality is its character. well-made and cosy with a lovely face and lots of functionality despite the unusual bezel. Reasonably cheap given what you get. Polarizing watch by design: depending on your tastes, this is either excellent or bad.
Worst feature of the watch: heavy with a thick bracelet some may find “a bit much.” Not everyone will like polarizing bezel design. Would have been great to have a detachable bracelet and included extra rubber strap for extra wearing adaptability.
