Healthy hair tips First of all, I want to stress that although my hair is far from flawless and I do have some heat and colour damage, over the years I have learned a lot about healthy hair that I am thrilled to share with you. Since I don’t think you can credit one thing for hair health, I’m going to share everything I use and do today. These simple suggestions may not seem like much, but with time, they build up and are followed consistently.

ELIMINATE WASHES

My hair has improved dramatically since I attempted to wash it just once every three to four days! Over-washing really ends up drying out your hair and creating a great deal of damage, breakage, and dullness. By robbing your scalp and hair of their natural oils. I have been using Kerastase for a while, and I always seem to return to them even when I try new things! Though these are products designed especially for blondes, I think this brand is fantastic overall and offers a tonne of options for all hair types. Also suitable for non-blonds are these products! HAIR MASKS

I truly enjoy using a couple of masks to replenish moisture in my hair after shampooing. As much as possible, I leave masks on (I’ll shave my legs and wash my face while the mask works). If you colour or use a lot of heat, masks are essential! I always, always use a microfiber towel to dry my hair after I wash it. Your hair is much too weighed down and damaged by a regular bath towel! I even take them on vacation with me, as once you use microfiber, you won’t want to use anything else! If, when travelling, you forget a towel like this, dry your hair with a t-shirt and stay away from hotel towels and regular bath towels at all. WET BRUSH & DETANGLER

An absolute must are heat protectants, and I can really tell when I’m not using them. My previously described leave-in conditioner spray and scalp serum are what I use when I first brush my hair. HOW I SLEEP

Using a silk pillowcase at night not only benefits your skin but also shields your hair from split ends, creases, and damage from ordinary cotton pillowcases. When you consider all the tossing and turning you do while sleeping,. A silk pillowcase eliminates all of that friction and keeps your hair from breaking and frizzing. You are losing out on better hair if you don’t sleep on a silk pillowcase!! Short term, this has completely improved the appearance of my hair (literally, it looks better the next day), and over time, it helps avoid friction-related breaking! With my hair longer now, I like to sleep with it in a loose, high pony on top of my head and a silk scrunchy to keep it out of my way. HAIR TIES


My Gimme Hair Ties have also changed things dramatically. They don’t yank your hair out and are seamless. One of the main culprits of split ends and breaking is the elastic hair tie! I really like the long fit and wear them for my workouts. Nowadays, I never wear hair ties that have glue on them. Not so much for working out, but for around the house, sleeping, or just quickly tying my hair back, I adore these tiny silk scrunchies.

TAKE A BREAK FROM HEAT

Though most of us sadly do not have the luxury of having our hair nicely air-dried, even reducing the amount of heat you use on your hair will improve its strength and health! Heat will only make your badly damaged hair worse. When your hair is healthier, you can reintroduce heat, and it will be more resilient. Try to consider things carefully before curling or straightening. Maybe spend one or two days a week without heat. Attempt a pony, slicked-back bun, headband, braid, or low pony. There are a ton of adorable heatless hairstyles available, and heat is most definitely not beneficial if you want healthy hair!

FREQUENT TRIMS

Though it can be tempting to forego haircuts while your hair is growing out, frequent haircuts are absolutely essential to your hair’s continued health. Depending on how my ends feel, every two to three months I get my hair cut. Just to tidy the ends without cutting too much length off, I ask for a light dusting. In addition, I want a more blunt cut at the bottom because I think it gives my hair a fuller, healthier look. I swear it’s only a visual trick from the blunt cut, but people often say how fresh my ends appear. My hair has a couple longer, softer layers that mix in really well; it’s not overly layered.

ALL right, This one I’m putting at the end since, in my opinion, it’s the universal “quick fix”!
