Discover the 6 Hottest Fashion Trends for 2024(according to experts)
2024 fashion trends can inspire you, whether your wardrobe update is about to happen or you enjoy watching fashion. From the comeback of “90s styles to color dominance, fashion experts, including The Weekly’s Style Director Mattie Cronan, are weighing in on all the forthcoming trends to keep an eye out for in the next few months.
Colourful stockings
Colorful, elaborate stockings are a resurgent throwback trend we will be seeing everywhere this year. Though the northern hemisphere has already dominated the 2024 fashion trend, you should anticipate seeing this trend as we move into cooler temperatures here in the south hemisphere.
The trend is a reasonably cheap way to add a flash of color, unusual texture or design into a basic ensemble.
Fancy flats
We live in a comfortable footwear age. The days of stuffing our feet into shockingly high stiletto shoes for a night out or work are long gone. Rather, in 2024, we will be witnessing elegant flats.
Says Mattie Cronan, Style Director of The Weekly, “Think Mary-Jane’s ballet flats coming in crushed velvet, adorned with crystals, mesh fabrications that lift the simplest of outfits.”
Oxblood
We have seen this opulent, rich shade creep up across fashion since Miu Miu’s oxblood strappy shoes went viral on the internet. Fashion source Gab Waller claims that this shade will be around all year.
“That color, I think, is going to be a huge colour throughout the year,” Gab tells The Weekly. “We see a lot of that colour on the runways so to me, that’s the colour that’s going to be trending.”
Corpcore
Whatever you call it, “office siren core” or “corpcore,” business is back, baby! Business wear ranges from suits to fitted vests, not only for the office.
Gab notes of one of the 2024 fashion trends: “It’s basically workwear that you’re wearing out.” “We saw a lot of that on the runways; it really does take me back to my corporate days!!”
” Sharp shoulders, high-waisted, wide leg or boxy-cut tailoring—suiting is here to stay,” Mattie says. “A smart suit is a wardrobe must for both a night-time function and your return-to-work clothing. More women are showing up on the red carpet in cool tailored styles; this is a strong yet understated approach.
Vest
It’s back in 2024; it was a wardrobe classic from the 90s, especially Fran Fine’s. Whether they are more laid-back or customized, vests accentuate any outfit with a little of refinement.
“Last season and going forward, the vest has been a wardrobe must-have item. Mattie notes cropped styles worn with a matched suit or a longer-length button-down fashioned back with a column skirt.
Feminine energy
From Barbie to Taylor Swift, 2023 was the year women lived—feminine energy was supreme. Well into 2024, this tendency should find expression in fashion.
Think 3D floral rosettes, sheer lightweight layers, very feminine tulle, the prettiest of pastels, and floral prints—a mix of a few trends all with a feminine and girlie touch, Mattie says.
